ANNUAL ELECTIONS 2026-28

1) Meeting of the Executive Committee to approve and announce the Election Schedule by the Association:

  1. Election schedule, and
  2. Appointment of the Election Commission, on the following conditions:
    • The Commission shall consist of 3 members.
    • Submission of their consent in writing.
    • They have not held any office in the Association for preceding two years;
    • They shall not be entitled to become candidate in the election, which they are conducting.

2) Display and submission of Election Schedule within 2 days of approval of the Executive Committee:

  1. Display of Election schedule at the Notice Boards of Head Office and Regional office of the Association;
  2. Display of Election Schedule at the Website; and
  3. Submit to the Regulator

3) The member companies if desiring to change their representatives shall intimate the change (if any) to the Secretary General within 3 days of the announcement of Election Schedule. 18-07-2026
4) Display election schedule within 7 days, the provisional list of all members eligible to vote along with their NTN, Sales Tax Numbers, the name and NIC number of the representative. The list shall be displayed at:

  1. the notice boards of Head Office and regional offices; and
  2. the Website of the Association.

5) Objection (if any) by members to the entries in the list of voters shall send to the Secretary General in writing within 7 days of the release of Voters List. 31-07-2026
6) Action and intimation by Secretary General on the objections within 5 days from the receipt of such objection. 05-08-2026
7) Any person aggrieved by the decision of the Secretary General shall make representation within 3 days to the election commission. 08-08-2026
8) Decision of election commission within 3 days on the cases referred to them. 12-08-2026
9) Any person aggrieved by decision or failure of the Election Commission to decide may appeal to the Regulator within 3 days. 15-08-2026
10) Decision of Regulator on such cases within 10 days. 26-08-2026
11) Display of final list of voters within 2 days of the decision of Regulator:

  1. the notice boards of Head Office and regional offices;
  2. the Website; and
  3. submit to the Regulator

12) Submission of nomination papers (duly proposed by the registered voter and signed) to the Secretary General within 4 days of display of final list of voters. 02-09-2026
13) Within 24 hours (one day) of receipt of nomination papers, a copy of the final list of voters shall be provided to each contesting candidate. 03-09-2026
14) Display of the list of contesting candidates within 1 day (twenty four hours) from the last date of receipt of nomination papers. 04-09-2026
15) The objections on the list of contesting candidates shall be filed with the Election Commission within 24 hours (one day of issuance of the list of contesting candidates. 05-09-2026
16) Decision of the Election Commission on such cases within 2 days. 07-09-2026
17) Filing of appeal with the Regulator within 2 days by the persons who are aggrieved by the decision of election commission or if it fails to decide such cases within the stipulated time. 09-09-2026
18) Notice of Annual General Meeting of the Trade Organization 09-09-2026
19) Decision of the Regulator within 7 days from the date of filing of appeal on such cases. 16-09-2026
20) Within 2 days of the decision of the Regulator the Election Commission shall issue the final list of contesting candidates. 18-09-2026
21) Polling for election of members of the Executive Committee within 5 days from the date of issuance of final list of contesting candidates. 23-09-2026
22) Submission of nomination papers within 2 days from the date of polling by the members of the Executive Committee for election of Office Bearers (i.e., Chairman, Senior Vice Chairman and Vice Chairman). 25-09-2026
23) Scrutiny of nomination papers by the Election Commission and display of the list within 24 hours (1 day) of submission of nomination papers. 26-09-2026
24) Polling for election of office bearers within 2 days from the date of issuance of final list of contesting candidates. 28-09-2026
25) Annual General Meeting for:

  1. announcement of election results;
  2. approval of audited accounts;
  3. appointment of auditors;
  4. approval of plan of activities for the next year.

IMPORTANT TO NOTE

In case of holiday on any of the above dates of the Election Program the next recognized working day would be automatically treated as the new date.
